Author Spotlight: Kris Cook

WOO HOO! The second of the Eternally Three books is set to release today. I am so excited for my friend Kris Cook! Perfection released a year ago today and now you can pick up Captivation, you will not regret it.

Kris did a little interview for us and below that you will find a chance to win Perfection in digital download!

Captivation

[Ménage Amour: Erotic Paranormal Ménage a Trois Romance, M/F/M, BDSM, Angels, Demons, Public Exhibition]

Though tripling is necessary for immortals to survive, warrior angel Kronos doesn't want to share Eve Rousseau. When she slips away undetected, his guilt multiplies. He swears to find her before it’s too late.

Eve’s rescue from a band of demons ends in captivity. The immortal warriors say it’s necessary for her safety, but she doubts their motives.
Jinn commander Nash is rewarded for rescuing Eve from the claws of the monsters. He’s assigned to identify which two immortals can activate her dormant bloodline magic. But being near her ignites something inside him that he doesn’t understand and can’t snuff out. All he can think about is bending her to his will and providing her with pleasure.

Eve wants nothing to do with the invisible world, including Nash and Kronos. Will she fall victim to the evil pursuing her, or will she finally surrender to love?

 Siren Erotic Romance

An Interview with Kris Cook

1. How does your day begin?

Coffee, two cups with cream. I'm not human until then. After that, I read and respond to emails.

2. Tell us about your series, ETERNALLY THREE.

I'm a fan of paranormal romance books: J R Ward, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Lora Leigh, Sheryilyn Kenyon, Shayla Black, Joey Hill and more. At lunch a few years ago with one of my mentors and longtime friend Shayla Black I mentioned an idea I had about immortals needing energy from humans with the transfer being similar to the laws of electricity - positive, negative, and conduit. Over the following weeks and months, I fleshed out the idea, and the world of Eternally Three evolved into what it is today: a sensual place of angels and demons, jinn and ifrit, and humans.

3. CAPTIVATION is the second book in the series. Tell us a bit more about Eve Rousseau.

We met Eve briefly in Perfection where she seemed more like a party girl. I knew then that she was much more than her outside persona. She’s a survivor and shows what will keep her moving forward and safe. At a very young age, she was in foster care. The hard knocks of her teenage life made her tough but also built a wall around her heart. Trust is hard for Eve, especially given all she went through. Still, the two guys have their jobs cut out for them to get past all the hard layers.

4. What can you tell us about her two guys – Nash and Kronos?

Kronos is an angel and is completely gone for Eve. When she disappeared from the protection of the Alliance’s Zone Three, he freaks out. He’s not into Nash’s Dom tactics at first, but soon gets on board, realizing Eve responds to the dominance.

Nash is a jinn. Can you say control-freak? He’s got some baggage that haunts him, but his desire for Eve to submit to him is stronger than his past.

5. You must cast Eve, Nash and Kronos for a movie. Who?

Amy Adams (Charlie Wilson’s War – look), Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince of Persia look), Jared Padalecki (Supernatural - look)

6. PERFECTION, the first book in your E3 series, received great reviews and is one of your publisher’s best selling paranormal books. How do feel about that? Do you think the same will be true for book 2, CAPTIVATION?

I’m very happy with the reviews PERFECTION received, of course a positive email from a reader thrills me to no end. As a reader myself, I go for edgy, dark books with an extra-helping of magic, so that is what I try to write, also. When I wrote the first book in my Eternally Three series, I just wanted to push the envelope. It seems to have hit a cord with many readers. I am hoping for the same with my latest release in the series, CAPTIVATION.

7. Any advice for aspiring writers?

Find other writers. Join a group, whatever. Without Shayla Black and Melissa Schroeder’s advice and encouragement, I would not have made it this far.

8. Besides writing, what else does Kris enjoy doing?

Listening to music. It's genetic. My grandparents actually were musicians. My taste run wide, from Korn to Lady Gaga. I also enjoy traveling, the outdoors, a good meal, theatre, wine.

9. What other jobs have you had, if any?

I was a radio announcer, a waiter, real estate salesman, etc… I enjoyed them all, but they were only stepping stones on the journey to my dream job – Writer!

10. On adjective that best describes you?

Tough. I need at least two words: Distractible & Determined

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can attest to that last statement! Want a copy of the best selling Perfection??? Just let me know what you like about paranormal, what you would like to see more of in paranormal, or ask Kris a question in the comments and your name goes in the hat! I will draw a name tomorrow at 9 am eastern.
took me a while to get my eyes of that cover....phew!! Hot stuff!!! Love it!!!
So, I love paranormal because it takes me out of the real world and into a world full of fantastic things. Pure escapism!!!
I'd like to see a unicorn shapeshifter, I think that would be very cool.
I'd also like to ask Kris,
What does a normal writing day look like?
Valerie, I love paranormals, too. Typical writing day: 2 cups of coffee, read and respond to emails, then read what I wrote the day before, dive into it... and hopefully hit my word count goal in a few hours.
Kris,
I love how Eve spoke to you in your previous book and pulled you into her life. I read a exciting and hot excerpt recently. Looking forward to reading the rest.
Kris Cook said...
Jerrie - you are too sweet. Thank you!
Great interview Melissa & Kris.
The book sounds so good. Haven't had a chance to read the first book yet but look forward to reading both.
Kris,
I believe my question has been previously asked, but I as well would like to know what a normal day of writing looks like for you.
Do you listen to music while you write or do anything ritual wise that gets you in the mood and mindset for writing?
Kris Cook said...
Christy - I do listen to music when writing. Very eclectic selections. I try to listen to what the scene I'm writing "feels" like to me. For instance - if it is lots of action, emotion - hard rock like Korn. Edgy and really paranormal is tone - Evanescence. Trance like - Enya.
Like your actor choices! That is some cover! WOW!
Paranormal, love the many different types of characters out there... such a wide variety to enjoy and learn about. Give me the mystic and unknown...
Always enjoy listening to Enya & Evanescence...
Hey Kris, my question for you is have you ever had a idea that you really thought would work and then found you just couldn't seem to write it?
Now I am off to read Captivation!! Chat with you tomorrow night !!
Kris_Cook said...
Tina - Great question. Yes, I have an idea that I'm still toying with about some football players. We'll see if it every comes to the light of day.
Hi, Kris! I enjoy paranormal because it ups the escapist nature of reading for me :) It's fun to dive into another world entirely in the books I pick up.
Do you have any more books in mind for this series?
Kris_Cook said...
Fichen - yes, there's another book in the Eternally Three series - PERFECTION. Also, a connected novella (Lillian's Rogues) will be coming out in Jan.
Brandy W said...
Okay Kris I'm not seeing one but I want to verify.. do you have a blog? I see that you do the chat room thing and have a newsletter. Can you tell us more about those?
Kris_Cook said...
Brandy, here's my blog (but be forewarned - I haven't been active) - http://musingsofkriscook.blogspot.com/
Melissa says I need to get that back up and running. Your thoughts? BTW - I'd like to invite everyone to my Chat Room tonight at 8pm US CT. My guest author is Emma Wildes.
Kris, I adored Amy Adams in "Enchanted"; she was the perfect Disney princess come to life.
What I enjoy about paranormals is the world that the author creates which is different from all other authors. This world is definitely different and yet since it contains humans, there will be similarities as well.
cories - me, too. Love paranormal.
Brandy W said...
Yes Kris you need to get your blog back and running. I like being able to pop onto an author's site and see what's going on. I few times a week satisfies me. I don't expect everyday since I have problems doing that. lol
